Les berlines avaient une charge utile au départ de 10-12 tonnes. Elles ont été réhaussées vers 1965 - 1972 pour porter leur charge à 14-16 tonnes. On voit très bien sur une photo la zone réhaussée. Une rame supplémentaire fut fabriquée vers 1974 - 1976 par les ateliers de BELLEVILLE (54).
Les berlines étaient chargées à partir de 1968-69 principalement par des Chargeurs-Transporteurs de type CATERPILLAR 966 puis 980, ayant un godet de 5,5 tonnes environ (voir photo). Les rames étaient composées de 10 berlines.
Pour freiner il fallait utiliser deux locomotives accouplées, comme les pentes des voies pouvaient atteindre 5,5%. (Photo: 1975, François-Xavier Bibert)
